With the holiday season quickly approaching, we wanted to connect with companies across the tech scene to see how they are taking part and giving back to their communities.
At Amwell, we are deeply committed to giving back to our communities through our corporate social responsibility program, Amwell Cares. Our program strives to educate our employees and drive change on a global scale, focusing on important initiatives such as hunger relief, sustainability, and promoting health equity. Together, as One Team, we have organized food drives, launched company match programs, created kits and made blankets for hospitalized children, as well as encouraged employees to get moving to earn donations to their charities of choice, and much more. Amwell Cares has also provided free digital care services in response to mass shootings and natural disasters to ensure everyone has access to the care they need when disaster strikes. Using Amwell’s ‘Day of Service’ benefit, employees also logged more than 400 hours in 2022.
In October 2023, twenty students from business and tech tracks at Charlestown High came for a visit to the SmartBear office in Somerville, through the company’s relationship with Boston Private Industry Council (PIC). Employees gave short job talks on everything from Product Management to Sales to IT, mentored the students in a group project (creating some great app designs), and had lunch with them. SmartBear CEO, Frank Roe, even stopped by to talk about a day in the life of a CEO. It was truly a wonderful experience for the students and the employees.

Through the Seismic Cares Program, our employees have an opportunity to participate in locally organized volunteer events with non-profit organizations around the globe. These events allow room for employees to connect within our Seismic community while also making a difference in the communities where we live and work. Throughout 2023, we held 14 Seismic Cares events across all of our offices, including a recent visit to the Animal Rescue League of Boston. In addition to volunteering, Seismic also matches employees’ personal donations (up to a certain amount per year) to eligible non-profit organizations!

On November 1st we kicked off our month-long philanthropy drive. This year, we are focusing on not just one type of cancer, but all kinds, and using this month to reflect on the impact it has had in our own lives. We've put together a virtual "Why Wall" where team members can share their "Why"s. A lot of us have our own reasons as to WHY we want to impact the cancer care space, whether it's a passion for innovation in healthcare, a personal experience with cancer, or supporting a loved one through their cancer journey. Sharing these stories will further unite us as an organization trying to make an impact, but also as a community of humans navigating tough times. For every story that is shared, Ronin will donate $75 to Cancer Action Network. This organization is dedicated to reducing distress and promoting well-being for those at all stages of their cancer journey. Team members are also donating funds directly to the org to purchase gift cards for families navigating difficulties this holiday season. Here's a peek into our Ronin Why Wall so far....
Whether that's through our regional culture groups, our Employe Resource Groups, or departments initiatives, Recorded Future employees are committed to uplifting the communities around them. Recently, our Singapore-based Futurists joined forces with TouchSG, delivering 140+ food packets to low income families and elders who live alone. This summer, Futurists took part in the 14th Annual Run to Home Base in Boston! Joining a group of 2,609 participants, Futurists contributed to raising funds for veterans and their families. In Boston, we concluded our fourth blood drive with over 100 units donated to date!

In 2017, we launched a program called ‘OnaCares.’ Its mission is to: "Inspire, improve, and strengthen individuals through supporting philanthropic initiatives that promote positive change in our communities." Over the years, Onapsis has supported many non-profit and charitable organizations focused on the unhoused, hunger, and children’s education programs to name a few. In addition to companywide giving campaigns, Onapsis provides –1 day off per quarter (32 hours per year), for employees to volunteer in their local communities.

At Acquia, we are always committed to our core DNA of Give Back More to contribute our time and talent to strengthen our communities. We recognize the opportunity and responsibility we have to make a positive impact on the world through every one of our business decisions.
Here are some of our “Give Back More” accomplishments we’ve done this year:
- Acquia’s 9th Annual Wonderfund Holiday Gift Drive — We partner with Wonderfund to host an annual Holiday Gift Drive that supports kids who otherwise wouldn’t receive presents during the holiday season.
- Cradles to Crayons — We volunteer with Cradles to Crayons in Newtonville, MA a few times a year. This year during their Tech Industry Day, we helped serve children across the commonwealth. Our team helped organize and pack clothing kits for 520 children.
- Project Just Because — We partnered with Peach and Pit Foundation and Project Just Because to support children in need of back-to-school supplies. We supported 3,000 children who didn’t have the necessary items they needed for the school year.
- Tree Nation — We’ve partnered with Tree Nation on tree replanting in Indonesia, Mozambique, and Cameroon. Our goal is to not only replant mangroves that have been removed by humans but also to help educate communities on a more sustainable way of living. So far, we’ve planted 14,895 trees total.
CarGurus is dedicated to making a positive impact in our local communities year-round through volunteering, donations, fundraisers, and our quarterly charitable giving program, which empowers employees to nominate nonprofits to receive grants for their work. Our recent CarGurus Service Weeks connected Gurus from our US, UK, and Dublin offices to complete activities that will provide over 1,000 individuals and families access to nutritious meals, self-care kits, and furniture, plus clothing and winter necessities for more than 150 kids and teens. We'll close out the year with holiday toy drives!

At Rue Gilt Groupe, Associates come together to connect and give back to our communities both in-person and virtually throughout the year. Our Boston HQ built beds with “A Bed for Every Child” and volunteered at the Pine Street Inn. Warehouse Associates in Kentucky held a school supply drive and our NYC office put together gift bags full of thoughtful goodies and handwritten messages to encourage and support children fighting cancer for the Koenig Childhood Cancer Foundation. Virtually, we supported Associate donation matches for NAACP LDF, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, and walked a total of 731,000+ miles for our virtual Pride Walk. But it’s not only our Associates who give back. In partnership with our Members, RGG again launched specially curated boutiques on Rue La La and Gilt to support the Trevor Project, whose donations go to LGBTQ+ young people in crisis as well as a Rue La La boutique dedicated to supporting Breast Cancer Research Foundation. As 2023 comes to a close, RGG Associates will be spreading cheer virtually with our annual gift drive supporting several organizations in bringing the magic of the holiday season to our local communities.
