The details on WiTricity
So WiTricity is the pioneer in wireless charging for electric vehicles. We had spun out of MIT in 2007. And the beginning was really about proving the technology of magnetic resonance. We were building up the patent portfolio, and we're traditionally an IP licensing company. So now in recent years, we've transitioned to a product company, working to bring a wireless charging system for EVs to the automotive market. And we're headquartered in Watertown, Massachusetts. So just on the outskirts of Boston, with just over 100 employees globally. In most of us engineering and leadership is based in the greater Boston area, along with a dozen or so remote employees across the US. We do have a global presence with teams in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul, Zurich, and a few remote employees across Germany in the Netherlands.
What they look for in a candidate
So we often look for skill sets across engineering, including embedded systems, electrical, mechanical, software, tasks, as well as program and product management and quality operations. But in addition to those hard skills, the soft skills in candidates are just as important, if not more. So firstly, I would say flexibility. I use this word a lot in our recruiting process. And I believe it's really a necessity in our small, small and agile environment. So it doesn't really matter your job title or level, you'll find people who are willing to help each other out and lean into other projects as needed in order to reach our common goal. And then secondly, I would say collaboration, we have an international cross functional team. And working well together is crucial for our success. So we're often working with teams with diverse skill sets and backgrounds. And really being energized by a team environment where you can brainstorm, ask questions and learn from one another is a big part of our culture. And then thirdly, really having excitement and enthusiasm for the industry and how our products can improve the user experience is another quality that we look for. So our teams are really passionate about what we're doing, and they really believe in the success of our product. So we look for candidates that will share that excitement with us and look forward to the challenges of developing a new product, and really have enthusiasm for cutting edge technology.
WiTricity's interview process
The interview process can vary slightly depending on the function the positions for. But in general, the first step is almost always with a member of our talent team, which is usually me. And this would be a 30 minute teams video interview where I'm really interested to learn more about your background experiences, what you're looking for, and really what's important to you. And it's also an opportunity for me to tell you more about WiTricity our culture, work environment, and for you to evaluate if we might be the right fit for you. The next step is usually a longer video interview with the hiring manager. So this is where the hiring manager will really dive deeper into your skill set to to evaluate if you might be the right fit for the role. And they'll provide more detail on the team's projects and why we have a need for the position. Then if you're local to the Boston area, we'll often invite you in to visit our on site headquarters. So this is a great opportunity for you just see our office lab barrage. And you'll be able to see the product in person as well as meet with a few team members, the hiring manager, and often the VP of HR. For non local candidates, we would continue the interview process just over teams video interviews. So usually we would find a block of time to schedule a few back to back interviews just as if it was in person. And then finally, as our last step, we always request two to three professional references.
How to stand out
For three ways that you can stand out. Firstly, I would say be curious, don't be afraid to ask questions. And if there are certain questions that you feel more comfortable just asking the Talent Team member do it. I would take advantage of them as a resource for you throughout the process and do your homework on the company before the initial interview. So have a general understanding of what we do coming into that interview and come prepared with questions. This will really help you to evaluate if WiTricity He is the right fit for you. And secondly, communicate clearly. So be specific in your conversations, we want to really understand what you're looking for and make sure it's a role that you can be successful in. So really focused on how your skill set aligns with our position. Transparency is a large part of our culture. So we want you to feel comfortable being your authentic self, and bring your own ideas to our environment. So clear communication is a big part of that. And the third way to stand out is by simply treating every person that you meet in the organization with the same respect as you would the decision maker. So this includes everyone from the receptionist, to the Talent Team, to your potential peers. We've really cultivated an open door environment where you can reach out to anybody in the organization and have your questions welcomed. So it's important that we continue to grow an inclusive culture with the right people.
Why they should be on your radar
So for one, the Evie market is one of the fastest growing industries. It's continuously evolving. And it's not often that you have the opportunity to work on a product that's really revolutionising an industry. And secondly, we have doubled in size as an organization over the past few years. And as a company that continues to grow, there are many opportunities for our employees to advance their careers in skillsets. And with the task of bringing a brand new product to market, there are plenty of challenges to tackle. And thirdly, we are unique as a small company that has a large global presence. So our employees have the opportunity to collaborate with teams and leaders all across the globe.
