What we need
The Mobile Robotic Controls Team at Symbotic is expanding and were looking to hire an intern to assist in the development of planning, control, and analysis software for autonomous mobile robots. Our ideal candidate is a graduate student or an advanced undergraduate student with strong analytical skills from a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science or Engineering. The ideal candidate is someone with a background in software development, control theory, and robotics who rigorously adheres to the scientific method and software development best practices and is comfortable with mechanical and electrical systems.
What youll do

Develop real-time control software for autonomous guided vehicles.

Use physics-based simulation packages to test and optimize robot behaviors.

Analyzing performance from production data, developing improvements accordingly

Develop path planning algorithms for manipulation and robot navigation.

Work with bot controls test team to evaluate and debug robot behavior and performance.

Develop high quality code and packages following software engineering best practices.
What youll need
-
Currently pursuing degree in a Computer Science, Robotics, or other related discipline.

Strong programming experience in Python/Bash/Linux/C/C++.

Experience with robotic planning and real-time control.

Comfortable working in the Linux environment.

Familiarity with physics simulation environments for robotics, such as Gazebo or IsaacSim, is helpful.

Experience with source control (git).

Enjoys learning new technologies, skills, and techniques as well as teaching them to others.

Familiarity with motion control equipment, material handling systems, motors, sensors, vision systems and\or communications protocols highly desirable.
Our Environment

Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid drivers license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
