The Role
The US Commercial Strategy Business Consulting (BC) team is focused on supporting the life sciences industry through the design and delivery of solutions for the core business issues faced by todays commercial pharmaceutical organizations. We do this with honesty and humility, a focus on customer success, and enabling career success for our consultants, at a speed that encourages pioneering & growth over alignment & consensus.
The Principal Consultant role entails working independently and with account teams to connect with clients to deeply understand their commercial agenda (needs and goals), quickly identify service and technology solutions to accelerate their agenda, guide project teams toward on-time, high-quality delivery while proactively preparing clients for the next steps, and evolve the skills and capabilities of the USCS practice.
Principal Consultants are expected to spend most of their time in the marketplace with clients - supporting ongoing work and helping the market understand Veevas unique solution offerings for commercial teams. Successful candidates will come with a strong subject matter understanding of todays commercial challenges & opportunities; functional knowledge of roles, processes, tools, and systems; as well as demonstrated success in repeatedly developing client programs from single projects. Strong delivery & leadership skills within management
consulting organizations are a must. Typical projects include GTM model assessment & optimization, omnichannel enablement & activation, launch readiness & acceleration, KAM transformation, and commercial function optimization.
This is a home-based, full-time permanent role with the preference but not requirement for candidates to live on the East Coast, enabling local client visits.

What Youll Do
- Grow a $2-4M per year book of business, collaborating with other business consulting groups (e.g., Content, Analytics, Medical, etc.) to scale and deliver one Veeva voice to the market
- Lead multiple concurrent project teams: staying two steps ahead of the client, conceptualizing insightful deliverables with no surprises, and coaching/developing project team members on how to do the same
- Act as BC account lead for designated accounts, enhancing account relationship/stakeholder maps and developing actionable strategies for deepening commercial presence
- Become a thought partner and a trusted advisor to your clients, demonstrating a deep understanding of the clients business and delivering Veeva-sourced & additional marketplace insights that may inform clients strategic direction
- Support the enhancement and socialization of BC standard offerings, relating technical product features to business impacts for clients across the full suite of Veeva data and technology products
Requirements
- Bachelors degree
- 10+ years of team leadership experience in Management Consulting
- Background and industry experience within the sales or brand domain preferred
- Strong record of delivering client advisory engagements
- Core management consulting skills, including workshop facilitation, client presentations, project management, and ability to develop structured approaches/methodologies to business problems
- Strong team leadership skills and ability to manage engagement economics
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to travel roughly 50%; this can vary depending on engagement

Compensation
- Base pay: $120,000 - $250,000
- The salary range listed here has been provided to comply with local regulations and represents a potential base salary range for this role. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range above or below, depending on experience and location. We look at compensation for each individual and base our offer on your unique qualifications, experience, and expected contributions. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation in addition to base salary, such as variable bonus and/or stock bonus.
