Department Overview
Motorola Solutions’ Video and Software organization is responsible for the development, deployment, security, and operations of Government First Responder mission-critical systems, including body-worn and mobile video infrastructure and devices, digital evidence management systems (DEMS), and command center software solutions. These technologies are provided in both an on-premise and as-a-service fashion.
The Video and Software managed services team is seeking a Solutions Architect to join the field operations team, focused on the long term management and operation of a nationwide DEMS and mobile video service for law enforcement.
Job Description
Role
As a member of the managed services team, the Solution Architect is the overall technical authority over the DEMS, body worn and in-car video architecture, functionality, and integrations to other technologies. The Solution Architect will interact with multi-disciplinary, multi-site external Clients and internal Motorola product and services teams, ensuring the technical and functional integrity of the solution throughout its lifecycle.
Key attributes of this role include the ability to manage customer engagements, lead in a matrix organization, and collaborate extensively across the organization.
Scope of Responsibilities

Gather Client needs and objectives, both technical and operational, and translate into detailed requirements.

Lead multi-disciplinary teams in the design of the solution, balancing technical and functional integrity with managed services viability of the solution.

Positively contribute to the implementation process, spanning planning, execution, and solution acceptance by the Client.

In partnership with DevOps, define and execute end-to-end integration and functional testing of multiple software products.

Ensure successful pre-production Client acceptance testing for quality assurance.

Manage infrastructure and configuration management systems.

Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of production systems.

Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues across various application domains and platforms.

Collaborate with development teams to identify and resolve performance and scalability issues.

Knowledge and Skills
-
Must have very strong knowledge of multiple functional domains, including systems design, requirements gathering, design for manageability/managed services delivery, project management, and IT architecture design.

Must be knowledgeable in the installation of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.

Technical knowledge of IT networking, cyber security, Active Directory, and cloud infrastructure domains.

Must have strong self-management skills and "people" skills to work closely with Motorola’s customers and subcontractor community, as well as Motorola Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Customer Service teams.

Must be self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties at a distance from direct supervision.

Must be highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and G-Suite of productivity applications.

Must have strong communications and collaboration skills.

Location
Candidate is ideally located in Canada and close to a major airport to enable travel to key operations locations (Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Ottawa and Toronto, Ontario) as required. Travel approximately 20% of the time.
Preferred Candidate Requirements

Experience and knowledge of body worn and mobile video technologies and DEMS solutions, and their implementation and operation in law enforcement.

Candidate must be able to obtain Government of Canada Enhanced Reliability Status (Secret) security clearance.
Basic Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field

5+ years of experience in a Solutions Architect, Systems Engineering role or similar

Legal authorization to work in Canada or the United States indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
