The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Depending on location this may be a hybrid position (2 days in office) if you are within 50 miles of the following locations: Boston MA, Portsmouth NH, Seattle WA, Indianapolis IN, Columbus OH, Plano TX.
Our Talent Practices & Employee Rewards team is looking for a Compensation Advisor to support the compensation strategy for Liberty Mutuals insurance businesses.
This role is responsible for effectively balancing compensation needs for the insurance businesses while ensuring alignment with the overall goals of the organization. As an individual contributor, you will partner closely with the Senior Director of Compensation Advising and the Compensation Design Team to drive and participate in the design and implementation, communication, and change management of global compensation programs. Your role will involve providing innovative and client focused guidance and data driven solutions for staffing and retention challenges, while delivering exceptional customer service and fostering collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a strategic compensation partner, trusted advisor, and analytic and data expert for Talent team and senior business leaders.
- Liaises with the Compensation Design team to ensure business priorities, objectives and perspectives are represented in Compensation Design initiatives. May serve as a resource on enterprise-wide Design initiatives.
- Supports the implementation of compensation programs and projects across insurance businesses; program areas may include enterprise-wide ad hoc analysis, job evaluation, market pricing and market intelligence, base pay, incentives, and regulatory compliance/reporting/documentation.
- Participates in negotiating the terms of the prioritized requests; sets expectations across all parties (business, talent, & compensation).
- Uses data to support the design, development, and evolution of compensation programs to better align with current industry trends and competitive landscape.
- Acts as project manager, team member or advisor on large-scale compensation projects. When necessary, works with outside consultants to conduct special studies on pressing compensation issues.
- Handles multiple concurrent and diverse initiatives. Independently and proactively addresses potential conflicts that impact current delivery commitments. Re-prioritizes work and reschedules as necessary. Responds to shifting priorities while maintaining progress of regularly scheduled work.
- Proactively identifies opportunities to redefine and streamline processes. Partners with key stakeholders to develop and implement changes and recommend best practices.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of compensation programs and practices, including the ability to analyze and interpret complex compensation data
- Proven track record of successfully implementing and managing compensation programs that effectively attract and retain employees and drive performance
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to draw actionable insights from data
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
- Strong executive presence and ability to work closely with senior executives
- Experience in project management, including scoping, planning, and executing projects
- Ability to build strong rapport and establish trust with client groups, leveraging your compensation expertise to influence decisions and actions
- Deep understanding of business needs and the ability to strategically utilize compensation knowledge to meet those needs, while demonstrating adaptability and flexibility
- Advanced ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively address competing viewpoints
- Typically, these competencies are acquired through a bachelor's degree (preferably in Human Resources or Business) or equivalent experience, along with 7+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years of experience in compensation analysis
