The details on Lakeside
I get really excited talking about who Lakeside is because I think we have a really unique story. We have been around for 26 years. We were founded in Michigan, which is why we have the lakeside name. And we, we built an industry leading very sophisticated product called sis track. But what I think is really exciting about Lakeside is that about four years ago, we got a major investment from a private equity firm called Insight partners. And that was the impetus for a lot of transformation and growth at Lakeside. So in the last four years or so, we've completely redefined who we are and how we operate and has been building new teams bringing in new people bringing in new tools, and ways to do our work. So that we're we're doing our work in a really modern progressive way that will help Lakeside scale and continue to stay ahead of the curve and be an industry leader.
What they look for in a candidate
Sis track, which is our IT platform that we build and sell. And support is an enterprise software for IT folks. It is incredibly, it's very sophisticated. It's very complex. And so it's important to us that we hire people who are really technical, whether they're on the sales side, or they're on the engineering side, they've got to understand a very technical product. And so that means that they're technical, they're curious, they're strong communicators. Another thing that is really important to us, across the board, no matter who we're hiring right now, people who are very strong collaborators, and collaboration and building culture is it means a lot to them. As I mentioned before, we're reinventing who Lakeside is right now. And so it's important that everybody we hire is a contributor to taking Lakeside to the next phase forward. And that comes that means that you've got to be a really strong communicator, collaborator, working with people from all different types of backgrounds and departments.
Lakeside's interview process
Our hiring teams understand that while we need to be really thorough, that benefits both sides, we also need to be efficient, or we're going to lose great talent. And so across the board, our interview processes are usually about four, maybe five steps. And you're always going to meet the sea level leader of your division. In that interview process with the process, which I think is awesome, you get to see who's leading that group, you get to see what their personality style is you get, you get introduced to that person, right off the bat, you hopefully end up joining Lakeside, but we tried to do very thorough structured interviews, we understand that a structured interview is going to minimize bias in the interview process. And it also gives candidates the opportunity to come well prepared, they know what they're going to be diving into in those sessions. And then the other thing I would call out is that basically all of our interviews are remote. And so you're going to be able to meet all of our team members in a team's for a zoom setting environment.
How to stand out
There are three themes that come about in all of my feedback sessions with hiring teams and hiring managers. I will hear a lot of praise for people who show up looking the part they don't need to be dressed in a suit necessarily, but people who come prepared looking like they are they're putting their best foot forward this interview really means something to them. I mentioned earlier that curiosity is a really big theme for us as well as we look at who we're hiring. So people who come prepared with lists of questions that demonstrates that they've done their homework and then I would say the third thing and this sounds kind of old school but if you're talking about setting yourself apart in a market where lots of candidates are looking for jobs, thank you notes go a really long way I hear about that all the time at Lakeside.
Why they should be on your radar
I'm asked this question all the time. What what are my what are my favorite things about Lakeside? Why should somebody should consider working here and there are So many honestly, there are so many reasons. But I think one of the things that is so consistently refreshing to me, is our leadership team. Our leadership team is very experienced, they know what they're doing. They have seen so many successes, they've led so many successes. So they're not just throwing things at a wall to see what sticks. They're using their experience to lead us and guide us. And so I think that the thing that I want people to understand is that if you become a lakeside, or you are, you're going to be taken care of you're going to be led by really thoughtful leaders who want to see you be successful at Lakeside for the long haul. That's the thing that really sticks out and resonates deeply with me.
