The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

This position is within the Risk Proposal and Issuance Portfolio (RPI) within the GRS Underwriting and Policy Technology organization. You will be joining an innovative, fast-paced team who owns and supports critical global components and capabilities for our underwriting users. Our portfolio allows underwriters to quickly respond to customer needs by streamlining the quote to bind process, assess, view and communicate policy details to the broker/customer throughout the lifecycle of the policy. Our intent is to offer easily consumable solutions (digital capabilities) for internal and external stakeholders like a SAAS product vendor: secure, configurable, and responsive to customers and stakeholders, providing experiences that users love and cannot live without.
Skills and Qualifications
- Develops component design. Develops system/application architecture. Develops maintainable/scalable, effective, defect free source code that meets business requirements and team standards.
- Proficient in programming languages and framework (e.g. Java, Springboot, Typescript, NodeJS, Angular, React, DataDog), actively involved in writing code, debugging, testing, and deploying cloud native (AWS) software applications, API development, CI/CD pipelines, continuous testing.
- Proven leadership abilities with an aptitude for working in teams. Solid negotiation, facilitation, consensus building and influencing capabilities.
- In-depth understanding of layered solutions and designs; in-depth understanding of shared software concepts and product features, as well as security minded. Experience navigating complex architectures and integrations with API exposing microservices.
- Knowledge of insurance concepts (specifically underwriting) is encouraged but not required. Ability to learn complex business processes is essential
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills.
- Openness and adaptability to respond to fast-moving circumstances
- A design thinking and test-driven development mindset

Qualifications
Experience
- Eight or more years of software engineering experience
- Strong background in business operations and strategies, including global technology and financial services trends
- Hands-on involvement with layered systems architectures, designs and shared software concepts
- Proficient in programming languages and framework (e.g. Java, Springboot, Typescript, NodeJS, Angular, React, DataDog), actively involved in writing code, debugging, testing, and deploying cloud native (AWS) software applications, API development, CI/CD pipelines, continuous testing.
- Familiarity with functional and system integration testing
- Experience working in an agile environment
